hi, we're the johnsons
our story
While in college at Indiana State University, Kelsey started Design No. 7 with dreams of what it could be in the future. After graduation, she worked a full time position at a commercial architecture and design firm in St. Louis. When Austin and Kelsey got married in 2020, they relaunched the business and worked it on the side until Kelsey went full time with the business in March 2022.
Today, Kelsey is our lead designer with the support of our Associate Designer, Nina Hakman. Austin continues to run the back end of the business on the side, as he also teaches math and coaches basketball in the Triad school district.
Outside of the business
The Johnsons reside in the Metro-East St. Louis area with their 2 year old son Tate, toy poodle named Moose, and their newest addition to the family set to in February. They love traveling to Table Rock Lake in the Big Cedar Area of Branson and Disney World. Disney was a place that Austin has always loved, and his passion for all things Disney has now become a family trait. We both grew up traveling to Branson, and that's where we got married in summer of 2020!
Kelsey is inspired by interior & exterior design anytime we travel - she is always taking in her surroundings and loves to visit unique places to stay.
